A picture is said to be worth a thousand words, but for one SouthCoast family, it was worth nearly $4,500. That's the value to Brenda and Thomas Nicholas of Acushnet, who won a photo contest that rewards them with a 50 percent discount on their next chartered yacht in the British Virgin Islands. While vacationing in the British Virgin Islands last July with another family, the Nicholas family chartered a yacht through the Virgin Traders Motor Yacht Charters Co. on the island of Tortola. Mr. Nicholas captained the 60-foot yacht, which had four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Struck by the beauty of the region, Mrs. Nicholas took quite a few pictures during the trip. "My husband and I have traveled all over the world, and we agreed this was probably the best trip we've ever taken in our lives," said Mrs. Nicholas. As soon as they returned home, discussion of the next trip began. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas made plans with several other couples to make the same journey. When Mrs. Nicholas visited the Virgin Traders Motor Yacht website to make plans for her next trip, she discovered the company was running a photo competition. Entrants were asked to submit a photo illustrating what they love about the British Virgin Islands. Mrs. Nicholas looked through her pictures from the trip and submitted several snapshots. A few weeks ago, she received an email indicating she had won the contest. The winning photo shows Mrs. Nicholas's daughter, Mariah, 8, on the shoreline. Ann, Reed and I wanted to write to tell you what a great time we had on the Rhona. She is a sound vessel, I feel privileged to have been her captain for a week. Our family had the best vacation we have ever experienced cruising the BVI. Our total experience from start to finish is filled with happy memories. We will never forget Biggie and his pre-cruise walk through of the Rhona. Biggie was very professional and made my job as Captain an easy one. He explained all systems aboard and made sure I was comfortable with the operation before moving on to the next item. I have been around motor and sailboats my whole life and appreciated Biggie explaining all systems the way he did. We also enjoyed his stories of when he was a young lad driving the ferry boats. I am sure the whole Virgin Traders staff is as helpful and friendly as Biggie. Hopefully next time we will meet the rest of the gang. The BVI are beautiful and a wonderful vacation destination, we will be back in the near future. Both Ann and I have been telling all our friends what a great experience we had with Virgin Traders and with our week of cruising. Do not be surprised when someone tells you we recommended your firm for their charter. So many times it goes unsaid, but we felt our experience was so perfect. Everyone, and I mean everyone...from Mike the taxi driver, to Jane, Amanda, and I'm sorry I forgot your other lady's name (I think Sharon), to Jeffrey, Chris and Captain Mark...all of you were superb! Throughout the booking process and the charter itself, everyone made the process pleasant and easy. We had a couple of minor issues during the charter, but Chris called us immediately to resolve them. The boat was clean and stocked to our requests. I could not recommend VT more highly. I'm sending this message as a follow up to the post-charter survey you sent me, to say how pleased we are with the experience we had with Virgin Traders. In particular, the staff on-site at the office and dock made us feel welcomed. Jane, Maria and David were great. The boat exceeded our expectations. All systems worked OK and in terms of space we could not have asked for more. Even with the baby crib in the port fwd cabin we had enough space for two adults. Everyone on board commented on how comfortable it was, highlighting the salon and aft deck. Next time we charter out of Tortola we will first look at the options available from Virgin Traders. This week on board Dream Trader was possibly the best overall experience I have had since I started chartering and cruising the BVI since 1985. The boat performed beautifully. Even though it is showing its age on the outside, it worked 100% and it was spotlessly clean. Your staff service is excellent, everyone is very friendly and helpful.

You are to be commended for the outstanding staff that you have assembled. But as we think of our maiden voyage we have to remember the old proverb - "Don't cry because it is over, laugh because it happened." And what a ride it was. The sheets and towel lady sorry I heard her name but did not keep it she was great. The dingy set and harness was fabulous.
